Rocket Cart House

Rocket Cart House is a 1-bedroom cottage in the Lizard village, sleeping 2 with 1 bathroom. The name comes from the building's original use - it once housed a rocket cart, part of the coastal rescue apparatus that was standard equipment for isolated headland settlements in the 19th century.

The cottage has an open fire, EV charging point, courtyard garden, dishwasher, washing machine, wifi, and parking. No dogs.

The Lizard is the most southerly settlement on the British mainland. Kynance Cove, with its coloured serpentine cliffs and clear water, is 1.6 miles away via the coast path - plan 45 minutes each way on foot. Cadgwith, a small fishing village with a double beach and a pub in the valley, is also 1.6 miles in the other direction. Mullion Cove is 4.3 miles north along the coast.

Lizard Point itself is a 10-minute walk from the village. The lighthouse is open to visitors and the view south from the headland is uninterrupted Atlantic. The village has a pub and a pasty shop that appears in most food guides to the area. Changeover is Friday.

This suits couples who want a remote coastal base with a historical property and direct access to the coast path on the Lizard. Not good for guests who need a beach within walking distance - both nearest coves require a coast path walk of 1.6 miles each way.
