Porthminster Beach is 500 metres on foot - a south-facing sandy beach sheltered from the prevailing swell, warmer and calmer than the north-facing surf beaches. Porthmeor itself, the surf beach directly below the Tate St Ives gallery, is 900 metres in the other direction. The harbour beach is 700 metres. Three beaches within just over half a mile is an unusual arrangement even by St Ives standards.

Best for: families or groups who want hot-tub evenings, sea views, and walkable beaches. Less good for: guests needing more than six beds.
