Sandpipers Downderry

Sandpipers Downderry is a three-bedroom house for six in Downderry, a small clifftop village on the south-east coast. Two bedrooms have super-king beds, and the twin has zip-and-link beds that convert to a third super-king when requested at booking. Three bathrooms mean two pairs of guests can each have their own, and open-plan living areas take in sea views towards the water.

Parking, a BBQ, dishwasher and washing machine are included, and the house has a garden, though it isn't confirmed enclosed, so families with young children or a dog that roams should check before booking. One dog can stay. There is no WiFi.

Downderry Beach is 500 metres away, a south-facing stretch that stays calm for swimming rather than surfing and rarely gets crowded even at peak season. Village cafes are within walking distance. Plaidy Beach is 3.4 miles away and Whitsand Bay 3.9 miles, both worth the short drive for a change of scene. The coast path runs east towards Seaton for flat, easy walking, or west into Looe for more dramatic cliffs, and the Monkey Sanctuary at nearby Murrayton makes an unusual family day out.
