Skippers Rest

Skippers Rest is a four-bedroom cottage for eight in Polruan, the hillside village that faces Fowey across the river mouth, with Bodinnick as the nearest town. A king room, two doubles and a bunk room provide the sleeping spaces, though only one bathroom serves all eight guests, the clearest compromise in the layout.

River and working-harbour views come with a wood burner and a large rear patio for outdoor dining. WiFi, parking, a dishwasher, washing machine and garden are included, and up to two dogs can stay. Host Sophie manages the booking.

Readymoney Cove is 0.5 miles away, Lantic Bay 1.1 miles and Lansallos Beach 2.4 miles, the last two reached via the coast path rather than by car. Polruan's quay, the Lugger pub and the passenger ferry to Fowey - crossing in about 5 minutes and running every few minutes through the day - are all a short walk away. The National Trust's Hall Walk, a 4-mile circular route above the estuary, starts from the Bodinnick ferry a mile north.
