Daymer Bay, the National Trust beach at the estuary mouth, is 1.9km away - the closest of the area's main beaches and good for safe swimming and paddleboarding. Greenaway Beach lies 2.6km away and gets quieter as summer crowds thin. Polzeath, the surf beach, is 3.5km north.

The seasonal Rock to Padstow water taxi departs from the slipway within easy walking distance, making it simple to cross the estuary for the Padstow fish market and restaurants without needing a car.

Suits families or two couples wanting a compact North Cornwall base with a wood burner for autumn or winter breaks. Not great for groups over 6 or those needing accessible facilities. Friday changeover, no pets.
