Spring Barn

Spring Barn is a three-bedroom barn conversion between Rock and Trebetherick on the Camel Estuary, sleeping six. The first-floor sitting room looks out across St Enodoc Golf Course towards the estuary - the same course where John Betjeman is buried, about 800m from the barn. Exposed wooden beams and low ceilings give the interior more period character than most North Cornwall holiday properties.

The three bedrooms share a single bathroom, which is the main practical constraint at this group size. The sitting room has both a wood burner and an open fire - useful from October through April when the estuary empties out. Wi-Fi and off-road parking are included. There is no dishwasher.

Daymer Bay beach is 1.2km on foot - a sheltered tidal estuary beach, calm enough for young children and popular with families through summer. Greenaway Beach is 1.8km along the coast path. Polzeath is 2.4km, the main surf beach on this part of the north Cornish coast with a surf school running lessons through summer. Rock village's seasonal passenger ferry to Padstow runs a 10-minute crossing across the Camel Estuary and operates throughout the summer season. The rear garden with BBQ and dog-friendly policy complete the picture.

Best for groups of up to six wanting a short walk to a family beach and easy access to the Camel Estuary towns. Less good for anyone expecting a second bathroom or a dishwasher.
