The single bathroom is the practical caveat for two couples sharing - fine for a family of four with kids on the same morning routine.

The Padstow harbour, fish market, bakeries, and the Stein restaurants (Seafood Restaurant, St Petroc's Bistro, Stein's Fish & Chips) are within easy walking distance. Paul Ainsworth's Rojano's on the harbour does wood-fired pizza without the No 6 booking lead-time. Trevone Bay and its blowhole walk is 1.7 miles out, Daymer Bay 2 miles. The Padstow-Rock seasonal passenger ferry crosses the Camel Estuary in 10 minutes, dropping you near Daymer for swimming or onto the Camel Trail cycle path.

Less good for two couples needing separate bathrooms or anyone after a quiet rural base - the central position trades quiet for convenience in peak season.
