Carbis Bay beach is 400m away - a south-facing arc of sand sheltered from the prevailing westerlies, with calm, shallow water that suits families and swimmers. At low tide the beach is wide and the sand firm. The bay is less exposed than the north-coast surf beaches, so it works well on days when Gwithian or Sennen are blown out.

St Ives is about a mile north along the coast path or by train from Carbis Bay station (the St Ives Bay Line runs from St Erth). The Tate St Ives gallery, Barbara Hepworth Museum, harbour, and the concentration of restaurants and cafes on Fore Street are all within easy reach. Porthminster Beach in St Ives and Porthkidney Beach to the east are both around 1.8km away.

The location sits between the quieter beach atmosphere of Carbis Bay and the facilities of St Ives, which is a practical combination for most holiday types. Saturday changeover.

Best for families and couples wanting easy beach access with St Ives as a day option. Less good for those who specifically want to be in St Ives itself - parking there is constrained and the town is busier.
