Port Gaverne beach is 1.2km away - a narrow, sheltered cove directly east of Port Isaac, quieter than the harbour village itself and with calm water that suits children and sea swimmers. Port Isaac is a few minutes by foot or car: a steep-laned fishing village with a working harbour, the Platt (the slipway and tidal pool area), several restaurants including several that book up months ahead, and the Doc Martin location backdrop that draws visitors year round.

Polzeath beach is 6km south - a wide, north-facing surf beach popular with beginners and families. Tregardock Beach, 6.2km, is a clifftop walk away and accessible only at low tide. The coast path between Port Isaac and Port Quin, heading west along the cliff tops, is one of the more dramatic sections of the north Cornwall path.

The cottage sleeps 5, which makes it one of the better-value options for a family of 4 or 5 wanting Port Isaac access without paying harbour-village prices.
