Carbis Bay cottage, 900m from the beach with BBQ and parking
Swallows Nest at Mount Douglas Farm sits in a quiet rural patch of Lelant, roughly a mile from the centre of Carbis Bay. The two-bedroom cottage is a generous layout for four - three bathrooms across two floors means groups do not share. A BBQ is included for the garden, and there is off-road parking. Dogs are not accepted. Saturday changeovers.
Inside, Wi-Fi, dishwasher, and washing machine are standard.
Carbis Bay beach is the nearest sand at 900 metres - a sheltered south-facing cove protected by the headland, used heavily by families in high summer but quieter in shoulder months. Porthkidney Beach is 1.2 miles further, a long flat sand bar that runs along the Hayle Estuary mouth. Porthminster Beach in St Ives is 1.7 miles.
St Ives itself is walkable along the coast path - around a mile of clifftop track brings you into the harbour area, with the Tate St Ives gallery and the old fishing quarter. The train from St Erth calls at Carbis Bay station, which puts Penzance within 20 minutes without a car.
Suited to couples or two families who want proximity to St Ives without paying the premium of staying in the town itself. The cottage position is inland enough to avoid noise, and the beach is an easy flat walk. Less good for those who need a dog-friendly option.
