Swanpool View is a four-bedroom apartment in Falmouth overlooking Swanpool lagoon, sleeping eight across three floors. The first-floor open-plan lounge has Atlantic views on three sides - this is the room that justifies the premium. From £688 per night, it divides to around £86 per person for a group of eight.

Four bedrooms sleep eight: two en-suite doubles, a master suite with a dressing room, and a twin room. A furnished balcony off the main living space and a large private terrace at ground level give two outdoor areas for different weather and different parts of the day. Dogs are welcome. Parking, Wi-Fi, BBQ, and washing machine are included.

Swanpool Beach is 200 metres away - a small, sheltered cove with a seasonal café. Gyllyngvase Beach is 900 metres along the coastal path, wider and south-facing. The National Maritime Museum is roughly 1.5 miles into Falmouth town centre, which has the densest concentration of independent restaurants on this part of the south Cornwall coast.

Best for: large groups or multi-family stays wanting sea views, two beaches within walking distance, and a Falmouth base with enough room to spread out. Less good for: couples or smaller groups - the size and price point suit eight people splitting the cost rather than two or four paying it in full.
