Sycamore Lodge

Sycamore Lodge is a one-bedroom cottage at Higher Dacum Farm in Porkellis, a hamlet midway between Helston and Penryn. The lodge is a standalone structure with its own private terrace and an enclosed garden - a sensible arrangement for the dogs that are welcome here. The sitting room has an open fire, which is the main heat source in a property that is otherwise well-fitted out for two people. Sleeps 2 with 1 bathroom.

Wi-Fi, washing machine, and parking are included. Friday changeovers.

The location is genuinely inland. Helford Passage Beach is 5.6 miles - a 15-minute drive to the estuary shore on the Helford River. Maenporth Beach is 5.9 miles, a broader family-friendly cove south of Falmouth. The trade-off is a quieter village setting and noticeably lower prices compared to coastal properties in the same area.

Porkellis itself has a pub - the Star Inn - and a handful of houses. The countryside between here and Falmouth is mostly farmed granite plateau with old mining settlements. Helston is around 5 miles east, with its Flora Day tradition and independent shops. Stithians Reservoir and its sailing club are under 2 miles away.

Suits couples with a dog looking for a rural retreat between the Helford and Falmouth where the focus is walking and relaxing rather than beach hopping. Not great for anyone who wants beach access within a short walk, or families needing more space.
