The Bowshot Lady

The Bowshot Lady is a two-bedroom cottage sleeping six in Fowey (pronounced "Foy") on Cornwall's south coast. Two amenities set it apart from most central Fowey cottages: private off-street parking, and a dog-friendly policy. Both are uncommon on the town's narrow streets where street parking is scarce.

Two bedrooms and one bathroom across the layout, with wifi, dishwasher, washing machine and an open fire in the main living space. The fire makes it work for autumn and winter as well as summer; the cottage holds a 4-star Visit England rating. Six in a two-bedroom layout means a sofa bed or similar - check sleeping arrangements with the merchant if it matters.

The garden sits alongside private parking. Town Quay, where the Polruan passenger ferry runs every 10 to 15 minutes, is a 5-minute walk downhill. Readymoney Cove and St Catherine's Castle are 900 metres along the coast path. The Hall Walk, a 4-mile circular using both Fowey ferries, starts from the same quay. The Eden Project is 8 miles north and the Lost Gardens of Heligan 14 miles.

Best for families or two couples with a dog who want central Fowey without the parking headache. Less good for anyone who needs two bathrooms - there is only one for six guests, which can pinch on changeover mornings.
