The Cabin

The Cabin is a single-storey wooden cabin at Treninnow Cliff, 1.6 miles from Millbrook, with a sweeping outlook across Whitsand Bay. It is a simple, off-the-grid place, run on gas heating and solar electricity, and there is no TV or WiFi.

You park at the top of the cliff, where there is one unallocated space and a residents' car park as well, then walk down a path to the cabin. Access is on foot only, so good shoes or boots are recommended and light luggage is best.

Inside, the open-plan room holds the kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area with a sofa bed, and a radio, speakers, a CD player and some books stand in for a TV. The kitchen has a gas oven and hob, a fridge and an ice maker. There is one double bedroom and a shower room with a walk-in shower. The cabin sleeps a maximum of two guests. Bed linen, towels, fuel and power are included.

The garden is unenclosed, with a lawn, picnic bench and sun loungers. The beach is 0.5 miles away, the pub 0.4 miles and the shop 1.6 miles, and the South West Coast Path is 150 metres from the cabin. Whitsand Bay Fort, about a 10-minute walk, has a bar and restaurant open to non-residents. One well-behaved pet is welcome. The cliffside setting and unenclosed garden make it unsuitable for children or anyone with limited mobility, and it suits a couple or two friends who travel light.
