The Den

The Den is a ground-floor apartment in the older part of East Looe, sleeping six across three bedrooms within a building dating back around 100 years. The single-floor layout - no internal stairs - is unusual in a town of steep harbour lanes. An allocated parking space comes with the booking, which removes a genuine headache in summer when public car parks fill by mid-morning.

Inside, the living room has an open fire, and the kitchen has been updated with modern fittings. Three bedrooms share a shower room on the same level. Wi-Fi, a dishwasher, and a washing machine are included. Dogs are not accepted.

An enclosed courtyard behind the apartment, backed by rock face, gives a sheltered spot to sit outside. Looe's sandy beach and seafront are within a short walk, along with the harbour pubs and fish restaurants on the old quayside streets. The Looe Valley branch line - a 15-mile scenic route to Liskeard - leaves from a station close by and makes a practical day out without the car.

The South West Coast Path runs through Looe in both directions, east toward Downderry and west toward Polperro. Best for families or groups of six wanting a practical base in the centre of Looe with the parking problem solved. Less good for those who find ground-floor properties in older buildings feel small.
