The Hideaway

The Hideaway is a one-bedroom cottage for two in Port Isaac, the north Cornwall fishing village known internationally as the filming location for ITV's Doc Martin. The cottage is set back from the road with its own private garden and uses a reverse-level layout - bedroom below, open-plan kitchen-diner-lounge above.

Port Gaverne beach is 200 metres away - a sheltered sandy cove with calmer water than the open coast, accessible at low to mid-tide. Port Isaac harbour is a 10-minute walk, with Nathan Outlaw's Michelin-starred restaurant on the waterfront and several smaller places serving crab sandwiches and fresh fish. The village's narrow streets and 14th-century harbour are walkable in minutes.

The cottage has a dishwasher, washing machine, and WiFi. EV charging is available on site alongside standard parking. Changeovers are Saturdays.

Polzeath beach, popular with surfers and families, is 4.3 miles away. Tregardock, a wilder and harder-to-reach beach below the cliffs, is 3.2 miles north along the coast path. The South West Coast Path runs directly past Port Isaac, connecting to Rock, Padstow, and the Camel Estuary to the south.

Best for: couples who want a seaside village base with immediate beach access and good restaurants within walking distance. Less good for: guests with limited mobility - Port Isaac's streets are steep and parking at the harbour is restricted.
