The Keep Pot

The Keep Pot is a one-bedroom cottage at 53 Fore Street, right in the heart of Port Isaac village, sleeping 2 with 1 bathroom. The lounge and kitchen/diner are on the ground floor, with the double bedroom, a snug and the shower room on the first floor. There is a patio to the front and a decked area to the rear.

The inside is compact but well equipped: dishwasher, washing machine, Wi-Fi and a wood burning stove with central heating are all included, and there is off-road parking for one car. The pub is 200 yards away. Port Isaac's narrow streets and 14th-century harbour are immediately outside the door - Nathan Outlaw's Michelin-starred restaurant is a short walk, and the Fisherman's Friends sing sea shanties on the Platt most Friday evenings in summer.

Port Gaverne beach, a sheltered cove with calm water for swimming and rock pools at low tide, is a short walk east. The South West Coast Path west from the village leads to Port Quin, a largely abandoned hamlet with a secluded inlet around 1.9 miles along the cliff. Polzeath, one of north Cornwall's most popular surf beaches, is around 4 miles by road.

Babies and children aged 2 to 18 are not allowed, so this is a stay for adults. Best for: couples who want a village-centre base in one of north Cornwall's most atmospheric fishing ports, with genuine character from the building's history. Guests who need step-free access should check with the owner before booking. Less good for: guests who need more than 2 bedrooms, dog owners, or anyone who wants to avoid the narrow streets and summer crowds that come with a central Doc Martin filming location.
