The Mariners

The Mariners is a three-bedroom cottage in Port Isaac - the north Cornwall fishing village made famous as the filming location for ITV's Doc Martin - sleeping 6 across 3 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms. The property has slate floors, whitewashed walls, and a rooftop terrace with a BBQ.

The 3 bedrooms cover a super-king with Victorian fireplace, a king-size with built-in storage, and a small double with an optional daybed. A Smeg-equipped kitchen opens onto a solid wood dining table for 6. A wood burner handles cold evenings, and there is a dishwasher, washing machine, and Wi-Fi throughout. Parking covers 2 cars - 1 designated garage space plus 1 on-street. Up to 2 dogs are welcome.

Port Gaverne Beach, a sheltered cove good for kayaking and rock pooling, is 600 metres on foot. The village itself has Nathan Outlaw's Michelin-starred restaurant, daily crab sandwiches from the harbour, and the Fisherman's Friends - the local sea-shanty group whose story became a feature film in 2022. The coast path runs directly from Port Isaac west to the abandoned hamlet of Port Quin, about 3 miles along the cliff.

**Best for:** Groups of up to 6 who want character, village atmosphere, and access to north Cornwall's coast path - plus 2 dogs welcome. The rooftop terrace makes it good for summer evenings.

**Less good for:** Anyone needing flat or step-free access - Port Isaac's streets are steep and narrow. Also unsuitable for larger dogs or more than 2 pets.
