The Martyn Rooms

The Martyn Rooms is a three-storey renovated cottage for six in Morwenstow, Cornwall's most northerly parish, on cliffs above the Atlantic near the Devon border. Two king-size bedrooms and a twin share two bathrooms. The ground-floor king-size room keeps its own en-suite and a walk-in wardrobe, useful for a guest who wants to avoid stairs at night even though the cottage spans three floors overall.

Exposed stone walls and ceiling beams remain from the renovation. The enclosed garden has decked seating and room for up to three dogs. Wi-Fi, parking, a dishwasher and a washing machine are included. The lounge on the middle floor has an L-shaped sofa and a Smart TV, and a picnic table stands on the decking in the garden.

Duckpool Beach is 2.2 miles away, Sandymouth Beach 3.2 miles and Northcott Mouth 4 miles, all reached by the coast road rather than on foot. Morwenstow itself has no shop or street lights, though Rectory Farm serves cream teas near the parish church, and the poet-vicar Robert Hawker's driftwood hut sits on the cliff edge nearby. Bude, with its shops and restaurants, is about 6 miles south.

**Best for:** A family or group wanting three bedrooms, laundry facilities and an enclosed garden for up to three dogs.

**Less good for:** Guests needing step-free access or on-site leisure facilities.
