Two miles north along the lanes, the Camel Trail starts at Wenford Bridge - a traffic-free route for walkers and cyclists running west to Wadebridge and Padstow, or east to Bodmin. St Breward's Old Inn, one of the oldest pubs in Cornwall dating to the 11th century, and the parish church are both within 10 minutes on foot. Wadebridge, Camelford and Bodmin are each around 20 minutes by car for supermarkets and services.
The north Cornwall coast sits about 10 miles west, with beaches at Polzeath, Daymer Bay, Harlyn and Trebarwith Strand within reach. Port Isaac and Tintagel are under 30 minutes by road. Prices from GBP 507 per week.
Best for walkers, cyclists and those wanting genuine moor surroundings rather than a coastal base. Less good for beach-first holidays - the coast requires a drive, and the lane approach to St Breward is narrow.
