The Penthouse is a third-floor apartment in a development a few minutes from Fistral, around 300 metres away on foot. The open-plan living area runs to floor-to-ceiling glass facing the sea, and the balcony and terrace both take the same outlook.

Three bedrooms sleep six across two bathrooms. The master has a king bed and en-suite shower room, a second bedroom has a king, and the third is twin - a layout that suits two couples plus children better than three couples, since only one room is en-suite.

The kitchen is fitted with an oven and grill, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and a separate wine cooler, with granite worktops and a dining table seating six. There is a washing machine and free WiFi throughout. Access is by lift or three flights of internal stairs.

Crantock Beach is 0.9 miles south across the Gannel, and Towan Beach and the harbour sit on the other side of Newquay town centre. The rating is 9.0, though from only 7 reviews, so treat it as a small sample.

Best for a group of six who want Fistral within walking distance and a full kitchen rather than hotel rooms. Less good for guests with mobility needs, since the lift is the only step-free route and there is no ground-floor option, or for anyone expecting three equivalent double rooms.
