The position makes the most of Fowey's geography. Readymoney Cove - a sheltered sandy beach backed by the ruins of St Catherine's Castle - is a 15-minute walk, 900m from the front door. Lantic Bay, one of the south coast's less-visited National Trust beaches, is 1.6 miles, accessible on foot via the coast path. The town itself has a working estuary, independent restaurants on the quay, and a regular passenger ferry to Polruan.

Up to 3 dogs are welcome, which makes Tidewatch a reasonable base for walking the Saints' Way or the coastal stretch west towards Polperro.
