St Ewe is a small village set in South Cornwall farmland, quieter than the harbour towns but well positioned for the south coast. Pentewan Beach - nearly a mile of sand on the south coast - is around 3 miles away by road, lifeguarded through summer with kayak and paddleboard hire available. Mevagissey harbour, where fresh fish is still landed and crab is sold from the quay, is a short drive.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan are around 3 miles north of the village - one of Cornwall's most visited gardens covering over 200 acres. A summer ferry runs between Mevagissey and Fowey for a car-free trip along the coast. Gorran Haven Beach is about 4 miles south, a sheltered sandy cove with minimal facilities and a quieter atmosphere than Pentewan.

**Best for:** Couples or families of up to 6 who want a proper Cornish village setting with fireside evenings; those planning visits to Heligan and the south coast beaches; groups who prefer rural peace to harbour bustle.

**Less good for:** Those wanting to be within walking distance of a beach; guests needing a hot tub or sea view; groups wanting to be close to a town with restaurants and bars.
