Woodview is a 2-bedroom cottage at Sandplace in the Looe Valley, sleeping 5 with 1 bathroom. Dogs are welcome throughout the property, and the BBQ garden is fully enclosed - practical for families with dogs who want outside space without having to supervise constantly. The open fire is the interior centrepiece, suited to autumn and winter visits when the valley is at its quietest.

Looe has fish restaurants, independent shops, and seasonal boat trips to Looe Island - a Cornwall Wildlife Trust nature reserve offshore. Duloe, a short drive north, has a prehistoric stone circle on its edge. The Looe Valley branch line from Liskeard follows the river through the woods to the coast - one of the more rewarding train rides in Cornwall.

Best for: dog owners, families, or groups wanting a valley setting with an open fire and easy beach access on the south-east Cornish coast. Less good for: guests needing a washing machine, or those wanting to be within walking distance of town or the beach.
