A two-bedroom fisherman’s cottage in the Downalong area of St Ives, sleeping 4, with a sea-view window seat in the living room and a wood burner-effect electric fire. The Downalong quarter is the oldest part of St Ives - narrow granite streets between the island headland and the harbour.

Two bedrooms - a double and a twin - both have sea views. The kitchen-diner opens onto an enclosed courtyard at the rear, used as a sheltered outdoor space. One bathroom serves the cottage. Dog-friendly, and parking is included, which matters in St Ives where residents’ parking is tightly controlled and most visitors use the park-and-ride.

Porthgwidden Beach is 100 metres from the front door - a small sheltered cove between the Island headland and the harbour, with a café directly above and calm water suitable for children. Porthmeor Beach, the main surf beach with the Tate St Ives gallery above it, is 400 metres in the other direction. The harbour beach and the St Ives waterfront are 400 metres east. The Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden is a five-minute walk. Note that the cottage is in the oldest, tightest part of town - steps and steep lanes are part of the picture.

Best for couples or two-adult groups who want to be at the centre of St Ives, surrounded by galleries, restaurants, and beaches within a few minutes’ walk. Less well suited to families needing a large property or guests who prefer quieter, residential surroundings.
