Hewas Water is a small settlement in the parish of St Mewan, on the edge of the clay country. A pub sits 1 mile from the cottage, and a small on-site shop covers basics. Charlestown's Georgian harbour, known for its tall ships and Poldark filming locations, is within 10 minutes by car.

Best for families wanting a private pool and single-storey living close to the Eden Project and Heligan. Less good for a beach holiday - the nearest beach, Pentewan, is a 3.8-mile drive.
