8 Streamside

8 Streamside is a single-storey lodge in Lanreath, set alongside a stream and edged by woodland. It sleeps four in two bedrooms: a king-size double with its own en-suite shower room, basin and WC, and a twin. A separate bathroom has a bath with a shower over.

The open-plan living area brings together the kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area with a woodburner. Guests need to bring their own fuel for the burner; gas central heating is there as well, and fuel and power are otherwise included in the rent. The kitchen has an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer, and there are two TVs with Freeview plus a DVD player. Bed linen, towels and two bathrobes are provided, and a travel cot (no mattress) and a highchair can be hired.

Outside, the enclosed and gated decked terrace has a table, chairs and a private hot tub. The lodge stands on a holiday park with lakes and open water, so children must be supervised at all times. Barbecues cannot be brought to the site, and charging an electric vehicle is not permitted. The Old Mill Bar & Restaurant is a five-minute walk away, while the nearest shop is 4 miles off.

Everything is on one floor, but there are steps down and up to the lodge, and the single parking space sits on a steep drive. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome, on a lead whenever they are on site. The lodge suits a couple, or a family of four bringing dogs, and is less good for anyone who finds steps or a steep drive hard going. Check-in is 4pm and check-out 10am, Sunday arrivals are not permitted and the lodge is no smoking.
