April Cottage

April Cottage is an 18th-century property in Coverack, a fishing village on the eastern coast of the Lizard. The cottage sits 300 metres from Coverack Beach and the village harbour, where a small fleet of boats still operates.

Four bedrooms sleep six: a king-size double with en-suite shower room, a further double, and two singles. A main bathroom has a bath with shower over. The sitting room features a wood-burning stove and a dining area, while a separate kitchen and utility room are fitted with a microwave, fridge, fridge/freezer, washer-dryer, and dishwasher. Superfast full-fibre Wi-Fi, a Smart TV with Freesat, and a DVD player are included.

The enclosed garden - accessed via 22 steep steps - has furniture and a barbecue. One well-behaved dog is welcome. Parking is in a free public car park nearby. Some downstairs areas have limited ceiling height, typical of a building of this age. The village pub is less than a mile away.

Coverack Beach, a sand-and-shingle shore sheltered from westerly winds, is the closest at 300 metres. Dogs are welcome year-round, and the clear water draws swimmers and snorkellers. Porthoustock Beach, known for its access to the Manacles reef dive site, is 2.7 miles north along the coast path. The Lizard village is roughly 5 miles south.

Best for a family or group of up to 6 bringing one dog and wanting a beach within 300 metres and a wood burner for cooler evenings. Less suited to guests needing step-free access, since the garden is reached via 22 steep steps and some downstairs ceilings are low.
