Brookview

Brookview is a reverse-level lodge at Honicombe Manor Holiday Resort in the Tamar Valley, near Callington. The three bedrooms are on the entrance level: a double with an en-suite Jack-and-Jill bathroom (bath and shower over), and two twins, one beside a separate shower room. The open-plan living room, kitchen and dining area for six are upstairs.

Off the double bedroom, French doors open to a patio. Upstairs, sliding doors lead to a south-facing decked terrace with seating. The lodge has electric heating, a dishwasher, WiFi, and books and games, with fuel, power, bed linen and towels included. The water supply is private and regularly tested.

Guests can use the resort's indoor and outdoor heated pools, mini gym and tennis courts, though opening times are seasonal and the outdoor pool runs from mid May to mid September, weather permitting. There is a bar and restaurant on site, and a shop and pub ten minutes' walk away. Parking is for one car. The coast is 10 miles away, and Tavistock 9 miles. Two well-behaved pets are welcome, though breeds listed under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 are not permitted, and smoking is not allowed. Workers and contractors cannot stay on the site, under-18s may not use the gym, under-16s need an adult at the pool, and a good housekeeping bond applies.

The lodge suits a family or group of up to six wanting resort facilities. It is less good for groups arriving in two cars, as there is space for one.
