The property is entered at first-floor level from the street, with the living area down a flight below and all four bedrooms on the entrance floor. It also has a hot tub, outdoor pool and wood burner. Crooklets Beach is 200m from the door; Summerleaze Beach is 700m along the coastal strip.

Four bedrooms - super-king, king, twin and a bunk room for under-14s - share one bathroom. The open-plan kitchen has a dishwasher; no washing machine, so plan pack accordingly for a week's stay. The open-plan living area has the wood burner; the hot tub and pool sit in the secure, enclosed garden. Up to three dogs are welcome. Off-street parking is on site.

Bude town centre is under just over half a mile on flat ground, with towpath routes running along the canal. The South West Coast Path passes through, heading north to Northcott Mouth (0.8 miles) or south into town. Stratton village, the nearest town inland, is a 10-minute drive.

Best for family holidays in North Cornwall where the sea is the priority and the pool-plus-hot-tub combination is non-negotiable. The single bathroom is a practical limitation for eight people - factor that into group composition. Less suited to guests who can't manage stairs, since the cottage is entered at first-floor level with the living area down a flight below.
