Connie's Cottage

Connie's Cottage is a four-bedroom farmhouse conversion at Nancegollan Farm near Helston, sleeping up to eight across three doubles and a single room with truckle bed. The property is dog-friendly (two dogs welcome), has an open fire and woodburning stove, and sits in rural countryside about 4.5 miles from the coast.

The ground floor has a kitchen-diner with a woodburning stove set within a feature fireplace, gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine. A separate sitting room provides additional living space. A cloakroom is on this level. Upstairs, the bedrooms include two doubles, one double with freestanding en-suite bath, and a single with truckle bed - note the staircase is steep and narrow. The family bathroom has a bath, walk-in shower, and heated towel rail.

An enclosed side garden has patio furniture and a barbecue, with off-road parking for three cars. Porthcew at Rinsey Cove, a National Trust beach with mining heritage visible in the cliffs, is 4.5 miles away. Porthleven Beach, one of Cornwall's most exposed south-facing surf breaks with a harbour-front restaurant scene, is also 4.5 miles.

Porthleven itself has become one of Cornwall's top food destinations - Kota Restaurant and Kota Kai sit on the harbour, with the annual Porthleven Food Festival drawing thousands each April. Helston is a short drive north, and the Lizard is about 20 minutes south.

Best for a group of up to eight bringing up to two dogs, with the open fire and rural farm setting suited to a slower holiday. Less good for anyone unsteady on stairs, since the staircase to the bedrooms is steep and narrow.
