Crown Mine Cottage

Crown Mine Cottage is a two-bedroom stone cottage in St Just, sleeping 3 in a king and a double. The renovation retained exposed beams and a wood-burning stove in the open-plan ground-floor living space, with a leather sofa, dining table seating four, and a bright kitchen. Upstairs, both bedrooms have windows facing countryside. The bathroom has a roll-top bath. Wifi, parking, dishwasher, and washing machine are included, and 1 dog is welcome.

The patio with BBQ is directly off the living area, and the village pub is a short walk around the corner. St Just has a working market square with two pubs, a medieval plen-an-gwary, and independent shops - the most westerly town in mainland England, with a character that reflects its working granite roots rather than the tourist trade.

Priests Cove at the foot of Cape Cornwall is 1.2 miles west on foot - a rocky cove and working fishery below the only cape in England. The coast path from there runs north past Botallack and the Crowns engine houses, perched on the cliff face as part of the UNESCO Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape. Geevor Tin Mine, open to visitors, is 1.5 miles north and covers the full mining story with underground access. Sennen Cove is about 4.4 miles south for surf and a sandy beach. Best for: Couples or small groups drawn to the raw coastal heritage of west Cornwall - mining landscape walks, Cape Cornwall, and end-of-the-land character without the tourist crowds. Less good for: Families needing sandy beach access on the doorstep - the nearest sandy beach is a drive rather than a stroll.
