Dahlia

Dahlia is a single-storey lodge in Portreath that sleeps eight across four bedrooms. The king-size and the double each have an en-suite with a walk-in shower, a basin, a heated towel rail and a WC, and there are two twins, one of which can be joined into a super-king-size on request. The family bathroom has a bath, a shower over it and a television built in.

The open-plan living area combines a kitchen, dining space and a sitting area with a woodburning stove. The kitchen has a double electric oven, an induction hob, a microwave, a dishwasher and a washer/dryer. Power and fuel are included in the rent, along with bed linen and towels, and there is a TV and WiFi.

Enclosed decking wraps around the lodge, with furniture and a hot tub. The tub is drained, cleaned and refilled at every changeover, so it may need time to warm up and might not be ready the moment you arrive. Four steps lead up to the lodge and the decking, and the property may not suit anyone with mobility limitations. Guests can use the site's swimming pool, golf and restaurant. Parking is off-road for two cars, the pub is 0.1 mile away, the beach 0.9 miles and a shop 1.3 miles.

No pets are allowed, and smoking is not permitted. Dahlia is best for two families or a group of friends, and less good for a guest who needs to avoid steps.
