A four-bedroom farmhouse at Reskadinnick, two miles north of Camborne, sitting in an acre of private grounds. Sleeps eight across four bedrooms with three bathrooms, plus a self-contained games room, hot tub and wood burner. Dog-friendly for two well-behaved dogs.

The ground floor has an open-plan kitchen-diner with high-spec appliances and a separate lounge with wood burner and sliding doors onto the garden. Bedrooms split across two floors: two kings, one super-king (splits to twins) and one twin. The acre of enclosed garden gives kids and dogs space to run; the games room sits separately from the main house, useful when the teenagers want their own corner.

Portreath beach is 2.5 miles north - a sandy harbour cove with surf, a pub and the South West Coast Path running off both ends. Godrevy, with its lighthouse on the headland east of Hayle, is 3.5 miles away. The Camborne-Redruth district was the world's largest copper-mining centre in the 1800s and the surrounding engine houses are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tehidy Country Park is two miles north for 250 acres of woodland walking.

Best for groups of eight wanting space, a hot tub and a dog-friendly base for the north Cornwall coast. Less good for couples or guests wanting to walk to a village pub.
