Bowling Green Cottage sits at Bowling Green Farm just outside Carnkie village, south of Camborne, sleeping four. The setting is former mining country between Carn Brea hill and the Tehidy estate.

The ground floor is open-plan with both a wood burner and an open fire - two heat sources that are useful given the exposed position. Two bedrooms sit upstairs, served by one bathroom. The garden is enclosed and dogs are welcome: up to five dogs can be accommodated, which is unusual for Cornwall and makes the property a practical choice for multi-dog households. Parking is on site, and a washing machine and wifi are included. There is no dishwasher.

Carnkie has a village pub a quarter-mile from the cottage and a shop half a mile away. Carn Brea summit, with its monument and Iron Age hillfort, is 1 mile north - clear-day views extend to St Ives Bay. Portreath beach is 4 miles by road, a sandy harbour cove with surf and a seafront pub. Tehidy Country Park - 250 acres of woodland and lakes - is 3 miles north. The engine houses around the cottage are part of the UNESCO Cornish Mining World Heritage Site.

Best for dog owners with multiple dogs, walkers wanting a rural base close to the coast path, and anyone after wood-fire evenings. Less good for guests who need a dishwasher, a second bathroom, or a modern interior.
