Horse Shoe

Horse Shoe is a two-bedroom apartment for four in the Downalong area of St Ives, a short walk from the harbour and the Tate. A double room and a full-size bunk room share the space, with one bathroom between them. Access is via two sets of stairs, one external and one internal.

The open-plan living area has vaulted ceilings and plenty of natural light. Exposed beams run through the living area, the double bedroom has side tables and ample wardrobe space, and the bunk room has practical storage. WiFi, parking and a washing machine are included. Dogs are not accepted. The single bathroom is the main trade-off against the central location.

Porthmeor Beach, the town's Atlantic-facing surf beach below the Tate, is around 100 metres from the door. St Ives Harbour Beach is 300 metres away and Porthgwidden Beach 400 metres, giving three very different beaches within a five-minute walk of each other. St Ives itself has been drawing artists since the 1880s, and the Tate St Ives gallery sits directly above Porthmeor. A gallery of 24 images covers the apartment's rooms and its harbourside position.

**Best for:** a couple or small family wanting three beaches within walking distance and central parking.

**Less good for:** dog owners, or groups wanting more than one bathroom.
