Polzeath Beach is 600m away - a wide, north-facing sandy beach with reliable Atlantic swell, popular with surf schools and families. Lifeguard cover operates in season. Greenaway Beach, a quieter alternative with rock pools, is 900m. Daymer Bay, a sheltered estuary beach on the Camel, is 1.3km and suits younger children and paddlers. The village itself has a Co-op, a handful of restaurants, and several surf hire operations.

Polzeath Beach is the main draw here. The coast path north from the beach leads to Pentire Point and The Rumps headland, with wide views across to the Mouls island and down to the Camel Estuary. Rock, directly across the water, is reachable by seasonal water taxi.

Best for groups of six to eight wanting easy beach access without needing a car for every trip. Good for surf families or groups combining beach days with coast path walking. Not ideal for those needing on-site parking - there is none - or guests looking for a quiet, isolated base, as Polzeath fills up in July and August.
