Kingfisher Lodge

Kingfisher Lodge is a one-bedroom lodge for two at Lanarth Park, just off the A39 near St Kew in North Cornwall. The studio-pod layout works for couples wanting a low-maintenance base with a private hot tub on the deck and pool access on site.

The lodge runs on one level. One double bedroom, a single bathroom, an open-plan living area with kitchenette, and Wi-Fi throughout. Step-free access from the parking spot to the front door makes it workable for guests with limited mobility. It is compact - this is a short-break pod, not a long-stay home, and storage is minimal.

Lanarth Park itself shares an outdoor pool, a bar and ten acres of grounds. Wadebridge sits 4 miles south for shops, the cinema and the start of the Camel Trail, with Padstow another 8 miles on for Rick Stein's restaurants. Port Isaac is 6 miles north - working harbour, Doc Martin filming locations, Nathan Outlaw's New Road. The Camel Estuary beaches at Daymer Bay, Polzeath and Rock are 8 to 10 miles by car along the B3314.

Best for couples wanting a hot tub and pool stay between the Camel Estuary and the Doc Martin coast. Less good for families needing space, anyone after a quiet rural retreat (it is a working caravan park), or guests wanting a self-contained garden.
