Lindos

Lindos is a four-bedroom Victorian house on the East Looe River, sleeping eight guests in the heart of Looe. The top-floor bedroom opens onto a private balcony with river and countryside views, a rare feature among the terraced houses stacked up the valley behind the harbour.

Three king-size bedrooms and one twin room share three bathrooms, easing the usual bottleneck in a house sleeping eight. Wi-Fi, parking and a dishwasher are included, the garden gives space to sit outside, and up to two dogs are welcome. Check-in starts at 16:00 and check-out is by 09:00.

An elevated decked terrace at the front of the house also looks over the river. Looe harbour is half a mile away, where fishing boats land the day's catch and small boats run trips out to Looe Island, a Cornwall Wildlife Trust reserve offshore. East Looe Beach and Plaidy Beach are both 0.7 miles from the house, while Hannafore Beach, known for its rock pools, is 1.2 miles away. **Best for:** a larger family or two couples wanting four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a private river-view balcony above Looe harbour. **Less good for:** guests who cannot manage several flights of stairs.
