Mable Cottage

Mable Cottage is a two-bedroom cottage for four in Wadebridge, the market town on the River Camel where the Camel Trail begins. One bedroom has a king-size bed and the other has bunks, making the layout well suited to a family with children.

A first-floor balcony with bistro seating overlooks the garden below. The single bathroom serves all four guests, and stairs lead up to the balcony. There is no dishwasher, no barbecue and no hot tub. Wi-Fi, parking, a washing machine and the garden are included, but dogs are not accepted.

Wadebridge sits at the midpoint of the 18-mile Camel Trail, and the flat 5.5-mile stretch to Padstow follows the estuary, taking around two hours on foot or considerably less by bike from one of the hire shops in town. Camel Valley Vineyard is 3 miles towards Bodmin. Daymer Bay is the nearest named beach at 5.0 miles, with Greenaway Beach at 5.3 miles and Port Gaverne Beach at 5.5 miles, all reached by car rather than on foot.

**Best for:** a family wanting a bunk room, garden and balcony within reach of the Camel Trail and Padstow. **Less good for:** two couples wanting a second bathroom, dog owners, or guests wanting a dishwasher or a beach within walking distance.
