Mermaid Cottage

Mermaid Cottage is a three-bedroom cottage on Rose Hill in Port Isaac, a working fishing village on the north Cornwall coast known as the filming location for ITV's Doc Martin. The property sits within walking distance of the harbour, local shops, and the village pub.

Inside, the cottage has a king-size bedroom, a double, and a bunk room across its upper floors, with a walk-in shower room and separate cloakroom. The sitting room centres on a woodburning stove, and a second stove warms the snug. The kitchen comes with an induction hob, fridge/freezer, and washing machine, while a smart TV with Freeview covers evenings in.

An enclosed patio with a picnic bench provides outdoor space, and a dedicated parking space sits in a locked car park across the road - a significant advantage in a village where parking is scarce. Port Gaverne Beach, a sheltered cove with rock pools and calm water for swimming, is 500m away on foot.

Port Isaac's harbour area sits in a steep-sided inlet, with Nathan Outlaw's Michelin-starred restaurant and several crab sandwich spots within a few minutes' walk. The coast path east leads to Port Gaverne in 10 minutes; westward, it reaches Port Quin in about 1.9 miles.

**Best for:** groups of up to 6 wanting a characterful fishing-village base, since the king-size, double and bunk room sleep six an easy walk from Port Isaac's harbour, shops and pub. **Less good for:** larger groups who'd prefer more than one bathroom, since all 6 guests share a single walk-in shower room.
