A stone-built Downalong cottage in St Ives, Monica’s House at 8 Porthmeor Square sleeps 4 across 2 bedrooms - a king-size with en-suite and a family room with a small double and bunk beds. Porthmeor Beach is 100 metres away and Tate St Ives is a 1-minute walk. The property has a small front garden bench and dog-friendly access. Carbis Bay is 2 miles along the coastal path, and Zennor village is 4.5 miles west via the South West Coast Path.

Six steps lead up from the garden path to the front door. The ground floor is one open-plan room, with sofas and a 40-inch TV at one end, a dining table in the middle and the kitchen beyond, fitted with a dishwasher, electric fan oven, gas hob, microwave and fridge.

Both bedrooms are upstairs. The king-size room has its own en-suite shower, and the family room has a small double and a set of bunks, with a second shower room off the landing. Two shower rooms for four people means no queue on beach mornings.

Outside, there is a small bench at the front for a first coffee. One dog is allowed, and Porthmeor's dog rules are worth checking before summer visits. Land's End is 18 miles by car for a day out at the far tip of the county.

Best for dog-friendly families of up to 4, with bunk beds and a small double in the second bedroom. Less good for anyone unable to manage steps, as 6 lead up to the front door.
