Victorian Police Station - flexible suite, self contained

The Old Police Station is a converted Victorian building in Launceston, with a self-contained suite sleeping two in one bedroom. Built in 1886, it served as the county police station until 1977.

The building keeps its original Victorian cells, including the doors, now renovated and let separately from the main suite. Stone and slate walls and original sash windows carry through into the suite, which has a private bathroom, terrace and free WiFi. A washing machine and outdoor seating area are also available. Free private parking sits in a rear car park, next to a barn once used for police horses and carriages.

Launceston Castle is a 4-minute walk from the door, and Lawrence House, a National Trust property, is around 500 metres away. New Mills Farm Park is 2.5 miles out. The suite sits in a quiet part of town despite being minutes from the medieval market square and the shops. Hosts Ziggy and Emma, who live on-site, offer lifts into town for guests without a car.

Best for couples wanting a characterful stay minutes from Launceston's castle and market square. Less good for guests who need step-free access, since the building has original stone stairs, so check with the hosts before you book if that matters.
