Mawgan Porth Beach is 500m down the hill - a wide, north-facing sandy bay that catches Atlantic swell and is lifeguarded in season.

Inside, the house runs to an open-plan kitchen and living area with a dishwasher and washing machine. Wi-Fi and off-road parking are included. No dogs. Two bathrooms and four bedrooms can accommodate eight adults without the main bedrooms feeling cramped. Saturday changeover. 50 previous guests have rated the property.

Bedruthan Steps is 1.1 miles north - National Trust-managed cliff access to a dramatic beach with rock stacks exposed at low tide. The steps themselves are steep and seasonal, but the cliff-top walk is open year-round. Watergate Bay is 2.2 miles south, home to the Extreme Academy surf and activities centre and the Hotel and Extreme Academy Restaurant above the beach.

Best for: groups of up to eight who want a hot tub, proximity to the beach, and good access to north Cornwall's surf coastline. Rated 10 by 50 guests. Less good for: guests needing accessible facilities or pets - the house is not adapted for mobility needs and does not accept dogs.
