Pirates Den

Pirates Den is a two-bedroom apartment for up to five guests at Helford Passage, on the north bank of the Helford River. Unlike the ground-floor units in the same complex, the first-floor living room looks out across the beach and river - a real distinction at this price point. Prices start from GBP 649 per week, rising to GBP 1,501 in peak season, with Friday changeovers.

The double bedroom sits on the first floor alongside the living room; a second bedroom with a single bed and bunk beds is on the ground floor. The walk-in shower bathroom was refurbished in 2022. A contemporary kitchen and separate dining area complete the first-floor layout, with wifi, dishwasher, washing machine, and accessible features throughout.

Guests share the complex's heated outdoor swimming pool, open 1 May to end of September. Kayak and paddleboard hire operates directly from the beach. Parking is on site. The Ferryboat Inn, a short walk away, serves seafood and holds regular music and quiz nights. The seasonal foot ferry crosses the river to Helford village, from where a footpath leads to the inlet on the Helford made famous by Daphne du Maurier's novel. Trebah Garden's 26-acre ravine is about half a mile away, and Falmouth is a 15-minute drive for the National Maritime Museum and five beaches.

**Best for:** small families or groups of friends who want river views, pool access, and a sociable waterfront pub on the doorstep. **Less good for:** those needing more than 5 beds, anyone who wants a ground-floor accessible layout throughout, or winter visits when the pool is closed.
