Porthkidney Beach is approximately 1.2 miles from the property - a sandy beach on the south side of the Hayle Estuary, considerably quieter than the main Towans beach to the north. The Towans stretch for about 3 miles from Hayle out towards Gwithian and are backed by sand dunes. At the far northern end, Godrevy Lighthouse sits on its tidal island and is visible from the beach - the headland is managed by the National Trust and has a small car park.
Carbis Bay is 2.2 miles, Porthminster Beach in St Ives is 3.2 miles. St Ives is reachable in around 15 minutes by car or via the branch line railway from Hayle station, which is a short walk from the property.
Changeover is Friday.
Best for couples or small families with a dog who want a quieter estuarine base with easy reach of both the Hayle beaches and St Ives, without paying St Ives prices. Less good for those wanting to walk directly to a main surf beach - the town-side location means distances are by road or cycle path.
