Prospect

Prospect is a duplex penthouse at Seawinds on Godrevy Terrace in St Ives, with views across Porthmeor Beach. Its open-plan living area has underfloor-heated oak flooring and a blue corner sofa seating six, with a mezzanine TV area above reached by an oak staircase of 11 steps. The kitchen has a large island, pale blue units and slate worktops, and an oak table with six chairs seats the whole party.

There are 2 bedrooms: a king with an en-suite shower and sliding doors onto a rear balcony, and a twin next to the family bathroom, which has a deep bath with a shower over. The apartment sleeps four. Three outdoor spaces come with it: a seaward decked balcony off the living area, the rear balcony, and a roof terrace reached from the mezzanine, where an outdoor cupboard stores beach gear.

The stairs to the mezzanine and roof terrace are the main thing to weigh up. Children aged 3 and over are welcome, and the flat has a washer/dryer, coffee machine, PlayStation 3 with Blu-ray and a selection of games, DVDs and CDs. Off-road parking is for one car, and the shops, beaches and pubs are all a short walk. No pets and no smoking.

It suits a couple or a family with children over three, but the staircase to the mezzanine makes it less good for anyone who wants to avoid stairs.
