Rose Cottage

Rose Cottage stands in Porthcothan Bay, on the north Cornish coast near Padstow, which is 6.1 miles away; the beach is 1.2 miles from the door. Inside, the ground floor divides into a snug library with window seating, a sitting room with a woodburning stove, a study area and a kitchen/diner with a table for six. Fuel and a starter pack for the stove are included in the rent.

Upstairs are three bedrooms: a super-king-size with an en-suite walk-in shower, a king-size and a twin, so the cottage sleeps six. The family bathroom has a bath and a walk-in shower. The kitchen has a dishwasher, and the utility area has a washing machine and tumble dryer. A highchair and travel cot are available on request.

Bi-fold doors open from the kitchen to a private courtyard, and steps rise to a lawn with a summer house, furniture and a barbecue. Parking takes two cars off the road, and an electric vehicle charger can be used at a supplementary cost by prior arrangement with the owner. Two well-behaved pets are welcome for a supplement per pet per holiday. No smoking.

Bookings need 48 hours' notice; anything closer is by enquiry pending owner acceptance. The cottage suits families and friends who want a garden and a stove-warmed sitting room. It is less good for guests who dislike stairs, as all three bedrooms are upstairs, and the nearest shop is 2.4 miles and pub 3.1 miles away.
