Upton Cross is a quiet moorland village with the Caradon Hill transmitter visible on the skyline to the north. Minions, the highest village in Cornwall at around 270m, is a few kilometres away, with the Hurlers stone circles and Cheesewring granite tor accessible on foot from the village. The Liskeard to Looe branch railway runs from Liskeard, roughly 8km south.

For coast, Plaidy Beach near Looe is 19.5km away - a drive of about 25 minutes. Downderry and East Looe Beach are at similar distances. This is not a beachside property: the appeal is the moor and the footpaths.

Good for couples or dog walkers who want a quiet countryside base with good walking from the door. Not great for guests who expect sea proximity - the coast is at least a 25-minute drive. Friday changeover, dogs welcome.
