Upton Cross is a quiet moorland village with the Caradon Hill transmitter visible on the skyline to the north. Minions, the highest village in Cornwall at around 270m, is a couple of miles away, with the Hurlers stone circles and Cheesewring granite tor accessible on foot from the village. The Liskeard to Looe branch railway runs from Liskeard, roughly 5 miles south.

For coast, Plaidy Beach near Looe is 12.1 miles away - a drive of about 25 minutes. Downderry and East Looe Beach are at similar distances. This is not a beachside property: the appeal is the moor and the footpaths.

Good for couples or dog walkers who want a quiet countryside base with good walking from the door. Not great for guests who expect sea proximity - the coast is at least a 25-minute drive. Friday changeover, dogs welcome.
