The nearest beaches are along the Looe coast, starting with Plaidy Beach at 5.5km and East Looe Beach at 6km. Looe itself is about 10 minutes by car - a working fishing harbour with a daily catch market, several pubs, and the small but active aquarium. The Looe Valley branch line runs from Liskeard through the wooded valley to the coast, worth taking once if you're here for a week.

The village of Duloe has a prehistoric stone circle - small, 15 minutes to walk around, but one of the better-preserved examples in Cornwall. Cardinham Woods is 20 minutes north for walking and cycling. Lostwithiel, with its antique shops and medieval bridge, is under 15 minutes.

Best for couples or small families using Looe as a base who want a rural setting with the coast accessible but not on the doorstep. Good for accessibility needs. Not great for anyone wanting to walk to the sea from the door.
